2003 NEORC Competition

 

The 2003 competition will be held at Youngstown State University - Beeghly Center, on 3/12/03 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Please be advised that I the scoring of the floor events, after third place, all teams received 10 points. Next year, the scoring will be revised to reflect a place for each team with points awarded accordingly.

Competition Events

NOVICE I

Around the Block--Robot must run up 25 feet and turn around a 5 1/2 inch cone and back 25 feet to starting line in two minutes.

NOVICE II/ADVANCED I

The Plough --Robot must move blocks out of the perimeter in two minutes.  Each block will be worth points.

ADVANCED II

The Plough II--Robot must move blocks from larger perimeter to smaller perimeter in two minutes.  Each block will be worth points.

                          Competition Rules

There must be a 3” (minimum) wire attached to the robot with a flag with the team’s number on  it. 

All electronic components must be used unmodified.

At inspection, every modification must be present and visible on robot and robot must perform in each event with any and all modifications. 

One set of wheels must be used on robot for entire competition.  Wheels cannot mar the surface of the gym floor.

Once the robot is at its mark, it cannot be touched.

Disqualification of a team in a particular event will occur if a team is not prepared to compete at its designated time.  

No more than $150 of team’s own funds can be spent on the customization of the robot (includes in-kind services and/or donations.)  Teams will be required to submit receipts and maintain a cost history of expenses in competition report/journal.

Competition Scoring

Overall scoring will be based upon five categories:

     Inspection                  10%  

      Technical Journal       20%  

     Presentation               20%

     Event #1                    25%

     Event #2                    25%
