Middle School Competition



 January 10, 2003, NEORC will host the first annual middle school competition. Twenty-two  teams from Youngstown and surrounding areas will compete in the NEORC middle school event.  The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Stadium Stadium Gymnasium, Youngstown State University.  The program is free and open to the public.

Competition Rules

Teams do not have to use all pieces in the set however teams cannot add any pieces to the robot that are not included in the set.
There must be a 3” (minimum) wire attached to the robot with a flag with the team’s number on it.
All electronic components must be used unmodified.
One set of wheels must be used on robot for entire competition.  Wheels cannot mar the surface of the gym floor.
The robot cannot be touched once it has placed on the starting point for an event.
Disqualification of a team in a particular event will occur if a team is not prepared to compete at its designated time.
Teams must maintain a technical journal documenting the process of building and testing robot.

Overall scoring will be based upon six categories:

Technical Journal       15%
Presentation 15%
Inspection     10%
Event #1  20%

Event #3    20%
