Nexus Grant

The NEXUS Grant is Designed to:

  •     Encourage a cross-pollination of ideas leading to innovative research and creative projects
  •     Enhance the ability to find connections between dissimilar subjects    
  •     Gain insight and experience in communicating across diverse interests    
  •     Foster the collaborative spirit.

Eligibility

Awards will only be granted for collaborative projects that are represented by at least two of the four departments of the College of Creative Arts and Communication. Applications involving collaborations between the College of Creative Arts and Communication and other colleges may be submitted as well as long as the main applicant is from the College of Creative Arts and Communication.
 
Applications will be considered from:

  • collaborations between two or more students representing at least two departments, working under two advisors, one of which is a CCAC faculty member and the other a member of the NEXUS committee
  • the principle applicant must be a CCAC major.
  • student(s) from one department working under a faculty advisor from a different department. The committee will only consider such collaborations if it can be demonstrated that the project is primarily student-driven.

Application Instructions

The application form must be complete and submitted to the Dean of the College of Creative Arts and Communication by March 17, 2017.  A CCAC faculty advisor and chair of a CCAC department must sign all applications for student projects. In some cases, the review committee may request a brief interview with applicants.

Budget

NEXUS Grant Awards are limited to $750.00.  Provide an itemized budget of expenses and material related to the completion of the project. You may attach an additional sheet, if needed

Award Decision

A committee of faculty members representing each of the departments of the College of Creative Arts and Communication will review each application and submit their recommendations to the Dean of the college of Creative Arts and Communication. The grant recipients will be selected by March 24, 2017

Timeline, Report and Dissemination

Recipients of the NEXUS Grant are required to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, March 31, 2017 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Dean's conference room.

Projects must be completed by the end of the Fall 2017 semester; a final report of the project including suitable documentation submitted to the NEXUS advisor and then forwarded to the Dean of the College of Creative Arts and Communication.
