French Major

The French major at YSU is being phased out. Students may no longer elect French as a major, but those who have already declared a French major will be able to complete the program.

What You'll Study

Although the French major is being phased out, you may still minor in French and join in many extracurricular activities such as the French Club, excursions to see French films and theatrical productions.

In this this program you'll widen your perspective of French culture as you learn to read and write the language. You'll improve your communication skills through advanced courses in conversation and composition. And you'll experience literature in the original French and learn more about francophone cultures.

Studying French can be exciting, and studying abroad is a good way to improve your ability in the language and gain exposure to diffent culture. You are encouraged to spend a semester studying abroad in France or Quebec.
