Sokolov Honors College Scholarships For Incoming Freshmen

The YSU Sokolov Honors College offers tuition and housing scholarships for qualifying incoming freshmen. Tuition scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,000; housing* scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,000. These scholarships may be awarded and combined with Freshman Scholarships for Excellence.

Honors scholarships are awarded to freshman students coming directly from high school. Recipients become members of the Sokolov Honors College, which may include:

  • Early course registration.
  • Honors housing.
  • Participation in specially planned academic and social activities and events.
  • Service-learning and leadership opportunities.
 Value  Minimum Criteria  Renewal
  • Estimated between $5,000 and $18,000.**

     

  • If renewed for full four years, estimated combined value is between $20,000 and $72,000.

     

  • 26 ACT or 1240 SAT
  • 3.5 GPA
     
  • 24 credit hours per academic year
  • Minimum 12 hours per term
  • 3.0 overall GPA

* Honors housing scholarships are renewable for two years.

** Includes applicable Freshman Scholarships for Excellence, or up to all tuition/fees and on-campus room/board fees.

If applying as a high school student, all application materials must be submitted by priority deadline of February 1. A completed application will include both an Application for Admission to YSU and an Sokolov Honors College application.
