Mechanical Engineering Major

Learn how things work and put that knowledge to use. Since 1997 the job placement rate for our Mechanical Engineering majors is nearing 100 percent.

What You'll Study

So how do things work, anyway? Mechanical Engineering majors want an answer to that question. They use math and science to make and fix machines, airplanes, cars, spacecrafts and more.

However far your imagination takes you, we have a way to support it. You'll have access to fully equipped laboratories for:

  • Thermodynamics
  • Internal combustion engines
  • Acoustics
  • Hands-on research in our new Hydraulics Laboratory

And outside of class, you can stay connected to your friends and gain professional connections in the student chapters for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers, or put your skills to use in contests like the Supermileage Vehicle Competition, Walking Robot Competition and First Robotics Competition.

Master of Science in Engineering available for this major.
