Goals for the HLC Self-Study and Accreditation Process:
 
 

 

Thegoals of the self-study process, approved by the Steering Committee on July 12, 2006, are listed below:


  • to prepare for and request continued accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission;
  • to involve the University community in productive dialog about substantive institutional issues;
  • to evaluate progress toward goals of the Centennial Strategic Plan;
  • to identify strengths and areas for improvement to assist in institutional planning, including developing the next strategic plan;
  • to request changes in YSU's Statement of Affiliation Status [see YSU's current affiliation status by clicking on the Higher Learning Commission logo/mark of affiliation graphic below],

--to permit offering degree and certificate programs at new sites in Ohio and contiguous counties in Pennsylvania without prior approval from the Higher Learning Commission; and

--to permit offering degree and certificate programs by asynchronous distance learning without prior approval from the Higher Learning Commission;

  • to identify other potential areas for which YSU needs to request a change in official affiliation status.

The Steering Committee will reevaluate and refine these goals as we progress through the self-study process.
