High School Senior Timeline

INTERESTED IN YSU?
If Youngstown State University is on your list of possible colleges you may attend next fall, the following timeline will help you in your planning process:

SUMMER/EARLY FALL
YSU has an award-winning campus. What’s the best way to gather vital information and get a first-hand view of our campus? Come and visit us!

  • * Campus Tours are offered daily (Monday thru Friday) and on most Saturday mornings.
  • * Attend a YSU Preview. These “previews” act as our campus open house programs.
  • * Attend an individual open house. A College Open House is an excellent opportunity to obtain specific information about the major(s) of your choice.



FALL
If Youngstown is one of your top choices…then this is the time to apply.

  • * Submit your application for admission
  • * Apply for scholarships
  • * Supply all additional documentation needed for admission (official transcripts, test scores, etc.)



WINTER
You’ve applied and been admitted. So now what? Your attention now needs to turn towards financial aid. YSU’s financial aid and EARLY Program deadlines are both February 15th.

  • * Be on the lookout for a financial aid night at your high school. If your high school has one, mark it on your calendar, and attend it!
  • * Submit YSU’s Institutional Aid Application (for financial aid and scholarship) by the February 15th priority deadline, if you didn’t already submit it with your application in the fall.
  • * Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)



SPRING
Did you beat the EARLY program deadline of February 15th? If so, registration for fall classes takes place in April. Not sure if YSU is the right “fit” for you yet? We also offer a Spring YSU Experience that offers all the amenities as its fall counterparts.

  • * EARLY registration/Placement tests
  • * Attend the Spring YSU Experience
  • * Return the housing application/contract (the earlier the better)



SUMMER
If you missed out on our EARLY program, we conduct the SOAR Program (Summer Orientation and Registration) during the summer.
