Welcome to MyYSU Targeted Announcements, a new tool aimed at improving communications at YSU. MyYSU allows students, faculty and staff to target communications to a specific audience on campus. This web page is designed to assist you with the process of getting your message posted.
PurposeTargeted Announcements are designed to more effectively communicate with various groups across campus. Targeted Announcements can be transmitted in two ways: posted on the MyYSU portal, or sent by e-mail. When an announcement is posted on MyYSU, users must log into the MyYSU portal and click on the announcement under the “Personal Announcements” channel box. When an announcement is sent by e-mail, the announcement will appear in the individual e-mail inboxes of students, faculty and staff. All announcements must be in reference to official University business (matters in support of the institutional mission) and of a time-sensitive nature. Examples of appropriate Targeted Announcements:
- Upcoming college, division or university events and activities
- Class cancellations sent by an authorized individual within the college
- Messages to students in a specific major
- Changes to college, division or university policies and procedures
- Upcoming professional development and training announcements
- System messages - these are sent automatically from Banner.
Posting an announcementOnly certain people on campus have the authority to post Targeted Announcements. The target announcements flow-chart shows the department or divisions (i.e., in gray) authorized to post messages for their particular areas. To determine whom you should contact to send a Targeted Announcement:
1) Locate your department (i.e., or where your office is located) in the right column (Note: for student's requesting a message, please e-mail Student Government), then
2) Locate your target announcement area in the left column, and then
3) E-mail one of the providers listed (or all if more than one).
