Dr. David Gill
Dr. Gill is an Illinois native who arrived at YSU in 2006 to teach in the departments of Art and Teacher Education while he finished his dissertation and graduated from Northern Illinois University. Prior to his doctorate, he was an elementary and high school art teacher for four years, during which time he developed interests in computer technology in art, expanding on his art background in painting. Dr. Gill’s current research involves using 3-D animation and game engine software to teach students about art, media,
and visual culture production.
Dr. Gill is an active scholar and presenter at national and state conferences in art education and has authored numerous articles appearing in books and journals internationally. He is married with two teenage stepchildren and lives in Boardman. When he is not on campus he can be spotted sailing boats or hiking the Ohio wilderness.
