BAC hosts an annual homecoming tailgate. Thanks to the generous support of local African-American businesses, this event is free and open to the public.
Black Alumni Chapter Scholarship
This scholarship program administered through the YSU Foundation provides a 100% match for every dollar donated to the fund. The purpose of the scholarship is to increase retention and graduation of YSU African-American students by offering scholarships to qualified continuing students.
Cultural Heritage Education
"Each One -- Teach One". The purpose of the Cultural Heritage Education Project is the increase the awareness of African-American culture and history through activities, projects, and program for students K-12, college students and the community.
One-to-One Mentoring and Leadership
The belief of the BAC is that "each one -- reach one". We propose to do this through our mentoring and leadership project. YSU Black alumni, faculty and staff can volunteer to act as a role model and mentor to an YSU African-American student. YSU African-American students need skills to become effective leaders in business, government, and the community. The leadership component of the One-to-One project will address this need through programs, events, and activities.
Student Recruitment
YSU Black alumni can assist in the recruitment of African-American students for YSU locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally by volunteering to visit schools, churches, community groups, and other organizations.
Young Alumni
Social and educational events and activities targeted to recent YSU African-American graduates under the age of 30 to assist in career placement and development through networking opportunities and to increase participation in other BAC projects and programs.
