Career Consultant Network (CCN)

One of the best sources of information for individuals who are exploring career options can often be an informational meeting with a professional currently working in a career field or profession of interest. Through its Career Consultant Network, the Office of Career & Counseling Services can connect YSU students and Alumni with other Youngstown State University graduates who have volunteered to serve as a resource for individuals who are seeking first-hand career information. By connecting with a CCN volunteer, you will have the opportunity to gain insight regarding what working in a given field or occupation is really like, secure information that may be helpful to you in your future career and academic planning, and discover information that may be beneficial to you in your job search. To learn more about the Career Consultant Network (CCN), contact a Career Services Coordinators.

Join the Network: If you are a YSU graduate with a minimum of five years of professional experience, and would be interested in becoming a Career Consultant Network Volunteer, you are encouraged to send an email message to: careerservices@cc.ysu.edu.

Job Fairs

During both the Fall and Spring semesters the Office of Career & Counseling Services sponsors a university-wide Job Fair. The Fall Job Expo, held in late September or early October, serves to launch recruiting activities for the new academic year. A similar event takes place in March or April during the Spring semester. Employers increasingly are using our Job Fairs to identify students and recent alumni they want to get on their upcoming schedules for on-campus interviews. These events bring a large number of employers to the YSU campus and provide job seekers with an excellent opportunity to connect with representatives from hiring organizations to market and promote themselves as candidates for employment. More than 80 employers have attended our last three Job Expos! For detailed information regarding the organizations that have participated in recent job fairs go the Job Expos section on our website.

On-Campus Recruiting

Regional, local, and national organizations send representatives to the YSU campus each year to recruit graduating students and recent alumni for employment after graduation and to promote opportunities available with their organizations. Campus recruiting activity primarily takes place during the Fall and Spring semesters. Graduating students and alumni who have registered through the Penguin Link software and have an approved resume uploaded into the resume database can schedule interviews online through Penguin Link with employers visiting the campus. When recruiting activity is taking place, detailed information regarding the employer organizations that have scheduled on-campus recruiting dates, the positions for which they will be conducting interviews, and information regarding the academic majors and qualifications they are seeking will be available through Penguin Link.
