International Undergraduate Application Instructions & Admission InformationThank you for your interest in undergraduate study at Youngstown State University (YSU). YSU is a fully accredited state university with an outstanding record of academic excellence, public service, and physical growth. A unique metropolitan university with a strong liberal arts tradition, YSU is committed to meeting the changing educational needs of the region it serves. With more than 100 undergraduate majors, YSU offers complete curricula in the liberal arts, as well as many technical and professional fields through its seven major academic units: The College of Arts and Sciences, The Warren P. Williamson, Jr. College of Business Administration, The William Rayen College of Engineering and Technology, The Beeghly College of Education, The College of Fine and Performing Arts, The Dr. Dominic A. And Helen M. Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, and The School of Graduate Studies. The University is also a consortium member of Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, along with Kent State University and the University of Akron. A comprehensive university, YSU awards a doctorate in educational leadership and six master’s degrees through the School of Graduate Studies, nine baccalaureate degrees, and four associate degrees, as well as certificate programs. Numerous options are available for transfer of credits with the University and from other two- and four-year institutions to YSU. Special Courses of study include Africana studies, women’s studies, environmental studies, management, and a six-year program leading to the M.D. degree. An Individualized Curriculum Program is available to the student who wishes to design her or his own academic program. A wide range of continuing education programs are available to meet specialized community needs and the interests of the non-degree student. CISP’s English Language Institute (ELI) at YSU was established through the Center for International Studies and Programs (CISP) and the Department of English to provide intensive study of English to speakers of other languages. Courses are available both to international students and to immigrants. ELI also offers specially tailored courses to groups by contract.
