Welcome to YSU's Study Abroad! In order to prepare Youngstown State University's graduates to better succeed in an increasingly complex world, the Center for International Studies and Programs provides access to both academic and experiential opportunities in international education through a variety of study abroad programs.
To provide access to study abroad programs that keep within the educational aims of Youngstown State University and accommodate a wide range of disciplines in diverse regions of the world;
To advise students on meaningful study abroad opportunities;
To provide programs and workshops on study abroad departure and re-entry orientations;
To foster intercultural skills, knowledge, and understanding;
To integrate study abroad into the students’ academic year program to the fullest extent possible
Study Abroad can take many different forms. Some programs involve a week or two in another country as part of a semester-long YSU course, or a course offered between semesters. Others are immersion programs consisting primarily of intensive language and culture training. Still others offer a semester or a year of coursework taught in English, or if you already have the necessary proficiency, another language. There are even programs in which students and professors travel together to a number of countries around the world, teaching and learning along the way. Whatever international experience you choose, the Center for International Studies and Programs is here to assist you.
