What is YSU-SALSA?

The Youngstown State University Student Affairs Leadership Support Association, YSU-SALSA, is an organization whose purpose is to foster and enhance the educational and professional development of graduate students in the Department of Counseling and Special Education Student Affairs Leadership and Practice program. This will be accomplished by:

1.	Providing information about various professional development associations, meetings, seminars, and other opportunities.
2.	Promoting and supporting conference attendance and participation
3.	Maintaining a resource database regarding higher education topics.
4.	Maintaining an informational website for prospective and current students.
5.	Encouraging understanding and collaboration regarding the application of professional standards in higher education.
6.	Contributing to the overall mission and goals of the Student Affairs Leadership and Practice program.
7.	To increase awareness of the Student Affairs Leadership and Practice program throughout the YSU campus.
8.	To coordinate a mentorship program for all interested first-year Student Affairs Leadership and Practice students.
9.	To organize formal and informal social activities.
10.	To serve as a resource for prospective graduate students interested in the field of Student Affairs Leadership and Practice.

Who is Eligible to Join?

The majority of the membership of this organization shall consist of Youngstown State University graduate students enrolled in the Student Affairs Leadership and Practice program of the Department of Counseling and Special Education who are in good standing.

Is there a Membership Fee?

There will be a twenty-dollar annual membership fee which will be assessed at the beginning of the fall semester. The fee amount will be evaluated annually by the Executive Council and stated in the Bylaws.
