LEADERSHIP AND PRACTICE
CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS & RECOMMENDATIONS |
The
Student Affairs Leadership and Practice program is a 48-hour program consisting
of coursework in Counseling (18 semester hours), Student Affairs (12 semester
hours), Leadership (9 semester hours), and electives (3 semester hours).
The experiential component of the program provides the student with a 6
semester hour/600 clock hour practical learning experience in a professional
setting.
Please note that not all Student Affairs/Leadership courses
are offered every semester. Students are responsible for carefully planning
their programs of study in order to meet all prerequisite course and graduation
requirements.
Here
are some tips to facilitate your course planning:
|
• |
Students
must take Couns 7026 and 7023 within the first 3 semesters in which
a student enrolls. |
• |
The
preferred sequence for taking counseling courses is: Couns 6962,
6900, 6973. |
• |
Internship
is the student’s capstone experience and should be taken during
the last semester (or two, if splitting into two semesters). Applications
are due the first week of the semester prior to the Internship.
Training Agreements are due prior to beginning the Internship. For
further information about Internship, please refer to the Student
Affairs Leadership and Practice Internship Handbook. |
• |
Comprehensive
examinations are taken during the last semester the student
is enrolled in Internship. For further information on Student Affairs
Leadership and Practice Comprehensive Exams, please refer to the
Student Affairs Leadership and Practice Comprehensive Exams Guidelines.
