F.A.Q.
Youngstown State University is a state-supported institution. Why should I contribute to the Annual Fund?
Youngstown State University has been able over the years to keep tuition and operating costs low largely through excellent stewardship of the resources we receive. Of our funding sources, - state appropriations, tuition and private support, the one that has steadily decreased has been our state appropriation. To offset these cuts, we rely on the unrestricted gifts from our alumni and friends to help us provide scholarships, endowments and new programs to our students and the community at large.
May I designate how my gift is to be used?
Yes. When you make a gift to Youngstown State University, you may choose any specific area or program that you would like to receive your support. You may also make multiple designations, if there is more than one area you would like to support.
How are unrestricted gifts used and why are they so important?
Unrestricted gifts are used for any area of greatest need. This is important because it allows the University to be flexible when addressing a need that is not easily categorized.
