Crystal is dedicated to providing a personalized comprehensive advising experience for students exploring careers and majors. Having worked at Youngstown State University for almost a decade, Crystal brings an expert level of advising knowledge in multiple areas. She enjoys working with students exploring majors, helping at-risk students succeed, long term academic planning, assisting with cover letter and resume design, mock interviewing, and classroom presentations. Crystal works to help ensure the success of first and second year students and undecided majors in achieving their career goals. She also works with the career needs of students and alumni from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) and the Beeghly College of Education (BCOE). She will be expanding her knowledge of personality theory and assessment by attending the Myers-Briggs (MBTI) certification program in March 2017.
She holds a Master of Arts degree in College Student Personnel (2006) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Emerging Technology from Slippery Rock University (2004). Areas of research include gender-based communication in online and traditional classroom environments, public speaking, and career development. Crystal has taught as a limited service faculty member for nine years in the department of Communications, specializing in Public Speaking. Prior to coming to Youngstown State University in January 2008, she worked at Kent State University- Ashtabula Campus in Academic Advising and Career Development. Crystal enjoys spending time with her family, baking and working out.
