Mission:  The mission of the Global Education Program is to prepare today’s students for tomorrow’s interdependent future. To promote global awareness, cross cultural understanding, and sensitivity through academically oriented extracurricular activities and programming designed to meet the educational needs of students and educators of Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Brief History:  (GEP) is an academic program sponsored by the Department of Political Science, coordinated by Dr. David Porter, Associate Professor, YSU. The GEP was founded in 1993, to consolidate a number of independent programs sponsored by the Department of Political Science, YSU student activities, and student organizations.  From its beginning, GEP has worked to serve the educational needs of area students by developing  extracurricular programs designed to meet the needs of the Middle School, High School, and College students of Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

GEP works with a number of university and community organizations to co-sponsor and promote programs that are consistent with the mission of the GEP.  In particular, GEP co-sponsors programs with, YSU's Peace & Conflict Resolution program, YSU’s International Studies Center, the Youngstown Chapter of United Nations Association, and UNA-USA of YSU.  For more information contact:
