One Chance for Wilderness Designation in the Wayne Forest

Dr. Chad Ferguson, Executive Director of the Ohio Wilderness League, will speak about the new campaign for wilderness in Ohio.  Of the 44 US states that have wilderness areas, Ohio ranks 44th, last in the nation, with only 77 acres of designated wilderness.  Dr. Ferguson will talk about the benefits of wilderness, including recreation opportunities and ecological services  as well as how and where new wilderness designations can occur in Ohio.


Everyone is welcome.  Come learn about Ohio's wilderness areas!!

Department Mission Statement: The Department's primary missions are to prepare undergraduate students for productive professional careers in geology, earth science, and environmental science, and to prepare graduate students for leadership roles in environmental research and management. We also provide general education courses that help the public make intelligent policy decisions on energy, natural resources, waste mangement, geologic hazards, climate change, and other related issues that affect society. Finally we support undergraduate, graduate, and faculty research, which advances knowledge in our disciplines.
