SPRING GRADUATE COMMENCEMENT
Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 2:30 p.m.
Stambaugh Auditorium (please note location)
CAPS AND GOWNS: May be obtained at the YSU Alumni
House (330-941-3497) located at the corner of Wick Avenue and University
Plaza. Please enter through the front doors (facing Wick). Caps and
gowns must be picked up during the specified dates
and times. If the scheduled times conflict with your work schedule,
a friend or family member may pick up your cap and gown by presenting
your YSU I.D. during the specified dates/times. In no case should
you plan to obtain your cap and gown on days other than those listed
below:
Monday, May 5 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tuesday, May 6 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, May 7 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Thursday, May 8 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday, May 9 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, May 10 – 10 a.m. to 12 noon
Women should wear dark skirts/slacks and dark shoes with robes, and men
should wear dark trousers and dark shoes.
PARKING: Parking is available for you and your guests in lots located
on Park and Ford avenues.
ARRIVAL AT STAMBAUGH AUDITORIUM: Graduates should arrive at the Stambaugh
Auditorium, just north of the YSU campus at 1:30 p.m., enter Stambaugh
through the rear entrance. Obtain a program in the Ballroom (first floor).
The doors will be open for relatives and other guests at 1:30 p.m.
ROBING: Immediately upon arriving, go the the Ballroom and put on your
cap and gown. You will be hooded on stage. Please carry your hoon over
your left arm, narrow end out with felt edge toward elbow. Please do
not bring purses or leave personal belongings in the Ballroom.
PROCESSION: The academic procession will begin at 2:30 p.m. sharp.
DIPLOMAS: Diplomas will be distributed after the ceremony at an
informal reception for graduates and their guests in the lobby right outside
the auditorium on the second floor. Please invide your guests to accompany
you to the reception.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: You may purchase commencement announcements at the YSU
Bookstore.
PHOTOGRAPHS: A professional photographer will take a picture of each
graduate as he/she receives his/her diploma. Proofs and a price list should
be mailed to the graduate within two weeks of graduation. Graduates
may receive information from several agencies, however, U.S.A. Foto, Inc.
is the only photography company contracted and endorsed by YSU to provide
this service to our graduates. There will be a designated photo
area of the auditorium for guests who wish to take pictures during the
ceremony. Guests may not approach the stage or stand in aisles
during the ceremony. Video cameras are permitted.
TICKETS: No tickets are required for relatives and friends to attend
this Commencement exercise.
ATTENDANCE: All graduating students are expected to be present at Commencement.

NOTICE: In keeping with the dignity of the occasion and respect for other
graduates, alcoholic beverages will not be permitted in Stambaugh Auditorium
nor will displays of inappropriate behavior be tolerated. Marshals have
been alerted to take whatever actions are necessary.
