United States. A majority of Alpha Phi Delta men are campus
leaders. Many of Alpha Phi Delta's nearly 20,000 lifelong
members have become top leaders in all facets of life.
The

Eight
young men at the University of Alabama founded the Sigma
Alpha Epsilon fraternity on March 9, 1856. The leader of
the eight, Noble Leslie DeVotie, created SAE to perpetuate
friendship and brotherhood among college men. Recently celebrating
150 years, Sigma Alpha Epsilon has become the largest and
most prosperous fraternity in the country. With their 275,000
active members and alumni, SAE contributes more money to
philanthropies than any other fraternal organization. Sigma
Alpha Epsilon was the first fraternity to establish a national
headquarters and national leadership school. On December
5, 1959, the Phi Gamma chapter was officially chartered
at Youngstown State University as the Ohio Alpha chapter
of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Over the years, SAE has consistently
been a leader in community service and scholastics at YSU.
Their many achievements include being the largest contributor
to the MDA among all Youngstown organizations in the last
10 years. SAE is the only organization on campus to win
the Orion and Constellation awards in the same year having
acheived this three times in five years.

The Sigma Chi fraternity was founded nationally on June
28, 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Seven men
were dedicated to forming something new; a fraternity based
on the ideals of friendship, justice, and learning. The
Jordan Standard was declared by founder Isaac M. Jordan
to be the minimum requirements for membership in Sigma Chi.
Sigma Chi has grown out of the small one-room apartment
in Oxford, Ohio to the largest international fraternity.
With over 220 active chapters and 210,000 active brothers
that go beyond borders, there are Sigma Chi’s all
over the world including Canada, England and Australia.
Also, Sigma Chi is the only fraternity to be recognized
and honored by the U.S. Congress for their achievements
and philanthropic efforts. Sigma Chi is the preeminent leadership
development organization, recently making a $40 million
dollar investment into expanding leadership programs.
The Eta Chi chapter was founded at Youngstown State University
on April 16, 1977. Since its inception on the campus of
YSU, Sigma Chi has received many awards recognizing the
chapter within Greek Life. Also, Eta Chi has received four
Peterson awards which is the highest honor any Sigma Chi
chapter can obtain. Their excellence as a chapter helps
two official charities: the Children’s Miracle Network
and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. During their week-long
philanthropy event called “Derby Days,” the
chapter raises money for these charities. On a local level,
Eta Chi donates money and time to Tod Children’s Hospital.

Sigma
Tau Gamma Fraternity or "Sig Tau" is a U.S. all-male
college social fraternity founded on June 28, 1920 at University
of Central Missouri (then known as Central Missouri State
Teachers College). The fraternity was born out of the desires
and aspirations of 17 men in the belief that all men are
social creatures and that friendships of college men are
lasting ones. It arose as a result of friendships made while
in the service of their country during World War I in France.
By dedicating themselves to the highest ideals of manhood,
brotherhood and citizenship, they would inspire thousands
of men from all parts of the country who would follow in
their footsteps.
In
accordance with the founding of Sigma Tau Gamma Fratenity
at Central Missouri State Teachers College, the fraternity
created new chapters on the campuses surrounding teachers
colleges (at the time also called "normal schools").
Since the fraternity's beginnings in 1920, they have spread
to more than 140 university campuses across the United States.
Sigma
Tau Gamma Fraternity is an active member of the North-American
Interfraternity Conference.

On the cold night of January 10, 1899, students of Illinois Wesleyan University, in the small Midwestern town of Bloomington, had just returned from the Christmas holidays when Joseph L. Settles went to the room occupied by James C. McNutt and Clarence A. Mayer at 504 East Locust Street to discuss the organization of a new society on campus. Joined immediately by Owen I. Truitt and C. Roy Atkinson, these five students created the first set of regulations for the Knights of Classic Lore, a society whose avowed purpose was "to aid college men in mental, moral, and social development", where later became known as Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
Tau Kappa Epsilon is a brotherhood of men who support each other's mental, moral, and social development. Since its founding in 1899, more than 250,000 men of good character have become members. We currently operate Chapters and Colonies on 278 college campuses across the United States and Canada, which makes us the largest college social fraternity in the world.
Here at Youngstown State University the members of Tau Kappa Epsilon value scholarship, character, leadership, teamwork, service, and brotherhood. We aim to make a positive difference in society, and become better people in the process.
