A Program Overview
What is it?
A campaign encouraging YSU alumni who are planning to start a new business, relocate a business or expand an existing business to consider locating in the Mahoning Valley.
Who’s behind it?
The effort was spearheaded by U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, in partnership with Youngstown State University and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.
How can ‘Grow Home’ help my business?
YSU Alumni business owners, company decision makers or entrepreneurs get an inside track to benefits the Mahoning Valley offers new and expanding businesses, along with direct access to assistance from the Regional Chamber’s Economic Development Action Team.
What services does the Economic Development Action Team offer?
Team members can help an alumni business owner or decision maker secure project incentives, such as tax abatements or incentives, obtain strategic information on topics such as Ohio’s business-friendly tax structure, access low-interest project financing and identify properties available for business use.
Why is YSU involved?
The Grow Home campaign dovetails with YSU’s commitment to advancing the regional and state economies. The effort also allows YSU to serve its alumni business owners and entrepreneurs by linking them with the Regional Chamber’s services and business database.
How does it work?
Starting off at the Grow Home Web page, www.ysugrowhome.com, YSU alumni can link to the Regional Chamber’s economic development database www.regionalchamber.com/economicdevelopment.aspx to find details about state and regional business incentives available in the Mahoning Valley.
The site also includes demographics data, information on the region’s technology companies and programs, its labor force, educational resources, available commercial and industrial sites, infrastructure and telecommunications.
