The
main goal of the Center for Literature for Young Readers, or the LYRE
Center is to encourage and support research and scholarship in the areas of
children's and young adult literature from multiple perspectives, represented by
the interdisciplinary expertise of the Center's primary and affiliated
faculty. |

To support this goal, the Center will:

sponsor
lectures, presentations, and workshops by authors and illustrators of books
for young readers and other experts in the field |

provide
a collection of books for children and young adults and for those interested
in the best ways to teach this literature (housed in the Wilcox Curriculum
Resource Center of Youngstown State University's Maag Library) |

edit
The LYRE Review, an online review of new books for young readers,
written by young readers themselves. |
All of these resources
are available to members of the community as well as faculty and students of
Youngstown State University.
