This book is about a guy named Jay who is
throwing a party for all his friends, as this will be the last time he will see
them again. The night starts out good, but then someone from the past comes
back. That would be a kid by the name of Stew, who comes from the Zone, a
district of buildings that got burned up in a fire. When Jay was younger, Jay
and his friends had gone into the zone to as a dare to retrieve certain things.
When Stew turns up, he crashes the party and Jay has to go into the zone once
again to get revenge. He and his friends enter the zone but are at odds against
each other because of earlier conflicts at the party. They have to work together
and cooperate to pull off the biggest event of their life. At the end, Jay is
being chased by Stew and is almost killed when he runs across a small plank from
one building to another while his friends hold the plank. After that incident,
Jay gets away, and the book ends him and his friends forgiving each other and
making up.
This is a story that will probably interest readers from grades 9-12. It is a
very intense and very mature book that shouldn’t be read by kids lower than 8th
grade. It was very exciting. The book had so many twists and turns that it kept
me on the edge of my feet. The end was one of the best I have read in a long
time. It started off slow but quickly got interesting as the story moved along.
It will keep you in your seat until you have finished the book. I thoroughly
enjoyed this book.
