Dragon Rider

Imagine yourself where dragons, brownies, mice, manikins, and all other sorts of mystical creatures live together. Author Cornelia Funke can take you to that place in her latest book, Dragon Rider. When a herd of dragons realize that the humans are taking over their lands, they send out Firedrake and his brownie friend, Sorrel, to find the old mythical dragon haven called the Rim of Heaven. Along the way, they meet friends like Ben, but they also meet horrid creatures, like Nettlebrand the Golden One. Ben is a human boy who promises to help Firedrake find the Rim of Heave, but little does he know that he will fill a long awaited prophesy: When the Dragon Rider returns, silver will be worth more than gold.
If you love magical, mythical stories, than this is for you. This story is full of absolutely likable characters with and easy to follow plot. In my opinion, this is a great story, not only because I am into fantasy, but because Cornelia Funke has such a great imagination. I think that this book would reach out to most middle-school students because it is what they are used to reading in school.
