The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray

Chris Wooding

Scholastic 2004

London has a dark cloud looming over it. Thanel Fox and Cathaline Bennet, wych-hunters, find a lady by the name of Alaizabel Cray. She has no memory of who she is and the mysterious tattoo on her back. While trying to seek out these answers they find themselves in a situation neither of them could have expected. They now face an evil that threatens the very city they protect.

The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray was a wonderful book. I couldn’t put it down once I started. It kept me interested the whole way through; there weren't any boring parts. The characters were believable because they had their own problems they had to deal with and it explained why they acted the way they did. They developed very nicely, I thought--their personalities changed and you could tell. This book's action scenes were great full of gun fights, hunting down wyches and a duel. I suggest this book to high school students. This book is a roller coaster full of twists and turns leaving you wanting more. I feel anyone wanting a high adrenaline pumping book should pick up The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray.
