Programs for RetireesCollege for the Over-SixtyThis program waives tuition charges for persons 60 years of age or older who enroll in regular college credit courses at Youngstown State University. Enrollment is on a space-available basis, meaning that any remaining seats are made available after our regular undergraduate and graduate students have enrolled. Persons qualifying for this program also must have been an Ohio Resident for the preceding 12 months. A person taking classes under this program does not earn college credit. Over 60 registration is held at the Metro College the Friday prior to the start of classes. Conversation SalonsYSU Metro College in cooperation with the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County offers a Conversation Salon Series. The series has received tremendous support and involvement from our area seniors. The Salon provides regional seniors with the opportunity to join a conversation group that meets once a month at various public libraries to talk about a variety of interesting and educational subjects. Topics are chosen by the members. Facilitators assist the Salon members in arriving at the discussion/conversation topic and in ensuring that all members of the Salon are able to participate. If you're interested in participating in this year's Conversation Salon program, please contact the Wick Avenue facility of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (Deborah Liptak, Development, 330-744-8336 ext. 118) for more information. |
