Workshops

The Lit Center in Cleveland sponsors many workshops and classes. Check their calendar of events.

 

Upstart Crows, a writing group of the Literary Guild of The University of Akron English Department, meets one Friday per month in the Student Union at UAkron.  Contact Dr. Mary Biddinger for more information.

Open Mics & Readings

YSU-Ytown Reading Series the first Monday of every month at 7 pm at Cedar's Lounge and Restaurant on Commerce Street in downtown in Youngstown features NEOMFA poets and writers!

 

Literary Cafe, 1031 Literary Road, Tremont.  Join us on the second Thursday of every month for fabulous feature readers, an open mike, and the "Penpad-Padpen Spontaneous Poetry Open." Write on the spot, share, and get into our year-end chapbook.

 

North Water Street Gallery Open Poetry Readings one Friday a month at 8 pm at 257 North Water Street, Kent,  Ohio.  Dates for Fall 2006: September 29th, October 20th, November 10th, and December 8th. Call Maj Ragain at 330-678-7473 for more info.

 

Mocha Maiden & Akron Literary Guild Open Mic once each semester.  See the Literary Guild pages for more info.

 

Split Lark Reading Series monthly readings featuring NEOMFA students and alumni, in addition to author visits and other activities on the fourth Friday of each monthat 7:30 p.m. in Fenn Tower. There is also an Akron chapter of Split Lark, that hosts readings at the Barnes & Nobles bookstore in Montrose.
