Dana hosts Flute, Voice recitals, guest artist

The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University presents two recitals this week in Bliss Recital Hall on campus. Both are free and open to the public.

  • Monday, Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m. YSU Flute Studio. Directed by Kathryn Umble, the recital features selections performed by fourteen members of the Flute Studio. The repertoire includes pieces by composers including Otar Gordeli, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Faurè, and Johann Joachim Quantz. The Flute Studio includes: Jewellea Wyne, Anna Reitsma, Jacquelyn Jupina, Kate Landry, Lindsey Kiselica, Nadya Stratton, Emily Karr, Amber DeCaprio, Hailey Baker, Kristen Richter, Sidney Charles, Brenna Price, Madeline Grimes, and Victoria Francioni.
  • Sunday, Oct. 30, 3 p.m. Misook Yun’s Voice Studio. Twelve students will perform a diverse repertoire from composers including, among others, Debussy, Vivaldi, Schubert, and Mozart. Students in the Voice Studio include: Olivia Kochunas, soprano; Jared Liscinsky, baritone; AnnaMaria Jadue, mezzo-soprano; Sara Eckenrode, soprano; Brianna Crawford, mezzo-soprano; Victoria Remley, soprano; Nicholas Hazelton, baritone; Anna Murcko, mezzo-soprano; Katy Howells, soprano; Erika Walker, mezzo-soprano, Rebecca Enlow, soprano; and Francesca Molinaro, soprano.

In addition, on Thursday, Oct. 27, 4 p.m., guest artist tenor Michael Pegher will conduct a master class, also free and open to the public.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pegher is currently employed in the ensemble of Germany’s Staatstheater Darmstadt. He has been cast as El Remendado in Opera Western Reserve’s upcoming production of Carmen, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11 at Stambaugh Auditorium.
