Students serve as Honorary Marshals at commencement

Seven Youngstown State University graduates represented each of the university’s seven colleges as Honorary Student Marshals at Fall Commencement.

The following students were selected:

* Daniel Cesene of Hubbard, Ohio, doctorate in Education, representing the Beeghly College of Education.

* Corey J. Patrick of Struthers, Ohio, a Financial Management major, representing the Williamson College of Business Administration.

* Allison English of East Liverpool, Ohio, a Middle Childhood Education major, representing the Beeghly College of Education.

* Aislinn Janek of Campbell, Ohio, a Communications major, representing the College of Creative Arts and Communication.

* Wendell Parrish Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, a Nursing major representing the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services.

* Kayla Lucente of Struthers, Ohio, a Political Science major representing the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.

* Amanda Dradt of London, Ohio, a Biology major representing the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The Honorary Student Marshal program, launched in the Fall semester in keeping with YSU’s theme of “Macte Virtute,” or increasing excellence, recognizes graduates who have worked with excellence and distinction throughout their college years. Selection criteria include high academic standing, campus leadership, involvement and overall good citizenship.

During the commencement ceremony, each student marshal wore a distinctive stole and carried their college banner, leading the lines of graduates from their college as they processed into Beeghly Center.
