YSU HR Program recognized by the Society for Human Resources

WIlliamson College of Business

The Society for Human Resource Management has recognized the alignment of Youngstown State University’s BSBA major in Human Resources Management with SHRM’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates.

The HR program at YSU has seen a steady increase in enrollment over the past 5 years. This international recognition further highlights the rigor and quality of the HR program. The YSU curriculum focuses on the integration of all aspects of HR with one another, as well as other business functions. Students receive hands-on experience working with actual organizations in addressing HR challenges.

The combination of theory and practice gives students a competitive edge and a specialized portfolio to take with them as they move into professional work.

This not only paves the way for the students to acquire the knowledge and skills expected by employers, but also expedites students’ ability to sit for the national exam (SHRM-CP), all of which will ultimately lead to their career success.

The YSU SHRM student chapter has been recognized by the national SHRM organization as an award-winning chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student chapter members.

Only 460 programs in 348 educational institutions worldwide are acknowledged by SHRM as being in alignment with its suggested guides and templates. The HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates are developed by SHRM to define the minimum HR content areas that should be studied by HR students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
