YSU professor recognized by AAA with President's Award

David E. Stout, the John S. and Doris M. Andrews Endowed Chair of Accounting in the Williamson College of Business Administration, received two awards at the 2017 Ohio Regional meeting of the American Accounting Association (AAA).

Stout received the Ohio AAA President’s Award for Exemplary Lifetime Service to the Region for his 14 years of service to the Ohio AAA and, along with his colleagues Donald E. Wygal (Rider University, Emeritus) and Billie M. Cunningham (University of Missouri—Columbia) he also received the Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum (TLC) Section Best Paper Award for the 2017 Ohio AAA Meeting.

The title of the award-winning paper was “Shining Additional Light on Effective Teaching Best Practices in Accounting: Self-Reflective Insights from recent Cook Prize Winners.” The paper will be published in the August 2017 issue of Issues in Accounting Education.

Stout is past president of the AAA Ohio Region, the TLC Section of the AAA and the Academy of Business Education. He recently completed a three-year term as a member of the AAA Board of Directors. He has served as editor of Issues in Accounting Education and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Accounting Education, and has published over 100 articles in various professional and academic journals. He is a co-author of Cost Management: A Strategic Emphasis, 7th edition (McGraw-Hill Education, 2016). In 2008 Stout was inducted into the TLC Section’s Hall of Honor; he is the recipient of the 2015 AAA Outstanding Accounting Educator Award. In 2016 Stout received the Lifetime Service Award from the American Accounting Association, in recognition of his long-time service to accounting education research.
