My father, Bob Fowler,
and my abstract/color-field paintings are the two inspirations for
my penguin design. My father influenced my early painting as he
worked in the paint shop at the General Motors plant in Lordstown.
Growing up, I was introduced to the concepts of color, design, line,
and shape, while watching my father detail and pinstripe automobiles.
This unconventional introduction to painting led me to pursue my
BFA. I can recall working on my paintings early into the morning,
as my father was getting up to paint automobiles at GM. My vision
for this penguin is not only a whimsical piece that will brighten
any environment, it will also serve as a tribute to my fathers
35 years of hard work painting cars so I could have the opportunity
to explore fine art. |
