The Cleveland Chamber Symphony is a professional ensemble-in-residence at Cleveland State University whose mission is to present new music along with neglected works of the past. Since its founding in 1980 by music director Edwin London, the orchestra has given the world premieres of more than 135 works. For its commitment to new American music, CCS has received the Laurel Leaf Award from the American Composers Alliance and major ASCAP awards, including the John S. Edwards award for "strongest commitment to new American music."
