Auto Theft

The YSU Police Department is investigating a rash of Auto Thefts involving older 1990’s model Olds Cutlass Ceira vehicles.  We have experienced three of these said motor vehicle thefts over the last month.  This type of vehicle as well as many other types of older GM vehicles are easily stolen.  If you own any older GM vehicle or the vehicle listed we are urging you use some type of security device to assure your vehicle is not stolen.  Some security devices you my employ are “The Club”, some type of a cut off switch,  an alarm system, or any other type of protection device of your choice.  But please don't help out the car thief by leaving your vehicle unlocked.  Please Lock your vehicle at all times and secure your valuable belongings out of plain view.

We do have a possible suspect in all of these thefts and the would be thief appears to be taking these cars just for the vehicles catalytic converter.
