- The Beeghly College of Education receives national re-accreditation
by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE.)
- YSU receives $600,000 Kresge Challenge grant for the Andrews Recreation
and Wellness Center. YSU is the first public institution in Ohio in
three years to receive a prestigious Kresge Foundation grant, putting
the university in select company.
- YSU physicist, James J. Carroll, garners record-setting research grant
to expand his research into clean nuclear energy. The $395,000 grant
is the largest ever received by a single faculty member.
- Jeanette Grasselli Brown, of the Ohio Board of Regents, serves as
fall commencement speaker on December 14. Crain’s Cleveland Business
and Cleveland Magazine selected Brown as one of the 29 most influential
women in Northeast Ohio. The former director of corporate research for
BP America, she is the first woman inducted into the Ohio Science and
Technology Hall of Fame.
