- Spring enrollment pierced 12,000 mark for the first time in eight
years after a decade of decline.
- The Lariccia’s, one of the Mahoning Valley’s leading philanthropic
families, donated $250,000 to the university. To recognize their gift,
university officials dedicated the Lariccia Family International Student
Lounge to the family.

By January 2003, nearly $9 million was raised for
the student recreation and wellness center, with the John S. and Doris
M. Andrews Trust pledging $2 million to the project. The facility
will be named the Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center in
recognition of the family.
