2003: a year in review
 
Three Youngstown State University Mathematics Students problem-solving
  • YSU math students Joel Lepak, Chris Jones and Sarah Grove were named one of five "Outstanding" teams in the world by the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications.
  • YSU men’s track team captures first Horizon League Championship in school history at the Klotsche Center at UW-Milwaukee. With the win, the Penguins brought home the first Horizon League Championship in any sport since YSU joined the league in 2001.
  • The Cuban Arts Festival, a feast of song, art and dance, is held on campus. Cuban poets, artists, speakers and food highlight the two-day event.
  • The Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications names a team of three YSU seniors as one of five “Outstanding” teams in the world. The YSU team, which placed 6th overall, beat out teams from the California Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
