YSU provides open access to a high-quality and affordable education.

We offer a broad range of associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees and certificate programs. Many of our academic programs are nationally recognized and accredited. Our students graduate ready for their professional careers, as evidenced in part by a very high passage rate on national certification exams. Additionally, our graduates were either employed or continuing their education at a rate higher than the state average for main campuses in Ohio. The cost of attending YSU is a relative bargain: we have worked hard to keep costs down and continue to have the lowest tuition among Ohio's comprehensive public universities. Additionally, financial aid packages available to YSU students are among the most generous.

The quality of an education at YSU is hard to beat. First-year students at YSU are more likely to be taught by full-time and senior faculty than at most other public universities in Ohio, and our class sizes are smaller too.

We are dedicated to outstanding teaching, research, and service. Our faculty are involved in a variety of significant research projects, many of which include the active participation of undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, faculty and students are actively engaged in many partnerships on and off campus that bring new meaning to the concept of public service.

While our primary mission is to provide a high-quality and affordable higher education, we also strive to make positive contributions to our community. We have talented faculty and staff on campus who are using their expertise to make a difference off campus. Additionally, our metropolitan location provides many opportunities for students to intern in a wide variety of public and private sector organizations.

Your full campus experience is important to us. YSU has a full range of intercollegiate athletics (our football team is nationally ranked), and intramural sports. Drama, music, and a variety of other student activities are available.
