Clinics/Workshops

Fitness Clinics and Workshops

The Department of Campus Recreation holds clinics and workshops on various specialized topics to increase awareness of trends in exercise and fitness-related areas. Clinics and workshops are free to students and members of the Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center, and topics vary every semester. Please register for these clinics and workshops in the administrative offices of Andrews Student Recreation & Wellness Center. For additional information on these programs, please call (330) 941-2244.

There will be a change concerning the Kickbox Certification. It will take place on November 1st and 2nd and the price will be $129 instead of $200.

There will also be a YogaBall certification this semester. We do not have exact dates/times as of right now, check back soon.

Flexibility Clinic-Erin
Stretching is one of the most important factors to consider as part of your daily routine.  See how flexibility can assist you attaining the best results from your workouts.   Learn different styles of stretching styles as well as the most appropriate time to stretch.  This clinic will offer a multitude of interaction exercises for flexibility along with an educational portion as well.  For more information on the program call Erin at 330-941-2245.

Women’s Weight-Loss Workouts-Christa
Losing weight is not easy...it takes motivation and dedication to achieve your weight loss goals. Learn the many benefits of participating in a women’s weight loss program including ways of making time for your workout, staying motivated, understanding and accepting your body type, and the importance of concentration. Jazz-up Your Workout-Cory
This is a dance fitness clinic that offers the excitement of moving with the rhythm and attaining total mind and body deliverance through dance. Basketball Clinic: Fundamentals, Fitness, and Fun
Tired of using the treadmill or the elliptical? This clinic will give you an alternative way to work on the five components of fitness with fine tuning your game. An educational lecture will be given first to help develop a better understanding of the importance of staying physically active. It will also introduce some new ways to create a fun environment of fitness through the game of basketball. This clinic will also have a hand on portion that will provide you with drills, circuits, and games to improve your fitness and your basic abilities in basketball. Kettlebell Clinic-Mark
Kettlebell Training can help you build muscle strength and lose weight. Kettlebell training exercises & workouts are becoming the choice for many elite athletes due to their versatility, ease and results. Sports Specific Training-Jeff
There are particular ways to train for the sport in which you are trying to become stronger, faster, or simply better all around at.  This clinic will discuss the importance of functional training styles to your specific sport of interest.  Specificity in your training style is the most pertinent piece of information to see the results you want that can better your game on your particular domain of play.  Topics will include sets and reps, endurance training for the later half of the game, and exercises that may be the best for your individual sport. Boot Camp Competition-Brian
Boot camp workouts are efficient because they work your entire body by going continuously from one exercise to another with no rest. The workouts involve exercises like pushups, jumping jacks, crunches and other body weight exercises. In this competition you will be pushed to the max while learning some fun and exciting exercises. Women's Weight Lifting Clinic-Ashley
Why lift weights?  This clinic will disprove all myths on why women should not lift and discuss the benefits on how strength training can become a part of your daily routine.  Also, instructional guidance will be provided in the areas of proper technique and exercise education.  When it comes to toning muscle along with losing weight lifting should be a part of your daily regimen of exercise.  Learn the many different ways to approach this area of fitness with lectures on circuit training and split routines to optimize your daily workouts.For more information on the program call Ashley at 330-941-2245.

Alternative Training Styles-Kyle
Are you tired of the same workout?  Well then it’s time for a change.  This clinic will can give you that extra edge to help you pursue your training needs and accomplish your long term goals for fitness.  This clinic will feature training styles that include progression, interval, fartlek, circuit, cross training, and much more.  Other topics will entail on how to include both cardio and strength training into your workout routine.  For more information on the program call Kyle at 330-941-2245.

Personal Training Certification Preparation Clinic-Shawn
Interested in becoming an ACE certified personal trainer? This clinic contains a detailed explanation of the knowledge, skills, and abilities you need to be a Personal Trainer and pass the American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer Certification Exam. Join a certified ACE personal trainer and Andrews Strength and Conditioning staff member for this nine week clinic.
