The Department of Campus Recreation holds clinics and workshops on various specialized topics to increase awareness of trends in exercise and fitness-related areas. Clinics and workshops are free to students and members of the Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center, and topics vary every semester. Circuit Training Clinic
Seeking a workout that uses a variety of exercises? Not sure how to approach working out using strength equipment? Circuit training may be your answer to your questions. Circuit training is a type of interval training that combines strength and aerobic/endurance activities.
What this means is that you move from station to station performing each exercise without taking a rest. Stations can consist of resistance equipment (free weights, selectorized machines, or elastic training bands) or they can entail a variety of body weight exercises that allocate a certain area on the floor. This clinic will show you how to design an exercise plan that entails a variety of exercises that you can put into your own self-designed circuit. For more information call 330-941-2245.

Functional Fitness Training Clinic
Seeking alternatives to your daily workout? This clinic will show you how to exercise using your own bodyweight. There are numerous amounts of bodyweight exercises that you can elicit to help you see the results that you are seeking, such as push-ups and squats. Learn not only a variety of exercises but how to use each one as an additive to your routine. Bigger, Faster, Stronger Training Clinic
The goals for achieving elite performance are to become stronger, increase running speed, and develop muscle. Learn how to implement a program that can give you these results. This clinic will entail a variety of core exercises that should implemented during training and how to progressively implement throughout successive training sessions. This clinic will show you how to increase running velocity by improving technique and agility. From a physical fitness standpoint, this clinic can also help you improve overall fitness goals by showing how and when to implement different activities (weight lifting/cardiovascular activity) during individual bouts of exercise. Hip-Hop Move & Groove
This clinic uses simple hip hop moves combined with upbeat music to keep you moving the whole time. Hip hop dancing is great exercise to get your cardio and strength workouts in, and have fun while doing them! Strongman Training for the Combat Athlete
Combat-Sports-Conditioning is designed with only one goal in mind, to make you the strongest, most conditioned, most prepared combat athlete, mentally and physically. Help you avoid common training mistakes that waste your time and energy. This clinic will teach you techniques for making your combat sport conditioning program extremely effective. Combat-Sports are any sport that involves combat such as boxing, MMA, and wrestling. The purpose of this clinic will show you how to train for strength and power to even help improve self-defense techniques.
