Looking to start an exercise program, but don’t know where to begin? Stop by the Wellness Resource Center and sign up for a total-body fitness assessment given by trained personnel. These assessments will test the five components of fitness: cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, and flexibility. Cardiorespiratory endurance tests include: 3-minute step test, cycle test, and treadmill test, while only one of the tests will be performed. Blood pressure and resting heart rate will be taken before and throughout cardio-respiratory endurance tests. Muscular strength will be tested through a hand grip dynamometer, and muscular endurance will be tested through sit-ups and push-ups. In order to determine body composition, the following tests will be performed: skin folds, waist-to-hip ratio, height, and weight. Flexibility is measured through a sit-and-reach test. The results will give you insight to your current status and information to make new fitness goals. Stop by the Wellness Resource Center, or call (330) 941-2241 with questions or to sign up.
