President’s Report:

 

Parking

·         Shuttle signs with times of pickup are now posted around campus

·         I will credit the pressure from SGA for making this happen

 

Athletics

·         After my letter to the editor in the Jambar last Tuesday, the issue of Athletics rescinding on their promise to pay for part of the Pitt game buses was brought up at Presidential mentors

·         Rick Love, assistant director of Athletics, has been in contact with Vrabel to discuss the issue

·         Mr. Jack Fahey and many others are on our side

Bridges Out of Poverty Training

·         The Bridges Out of Poverty Student Union has agreed to give a presentation to SGA on Monday April 22nd at 4pm

·         Instead of committee meetings we will meet in the Ohio Room

·         The training will focus on communicating with under-resourced students

·         Last Lecture with Dr. Tess to follow at 5pm

 

4-Year Plan Proposal

·         Josh and Melissa will be taking the proposal to the Board

·         Spoke with Mr. Fahey about the proposal and he wants to be the champion of our cause. He’s all for it

Meeting with Final Four Presidential Candidates

·         SGA Exec has been offered to opportunity to meet privately with each of the final four candidates on:

·         Monday, April 29        2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.  President’s Conference Room, Tod Hall

Thursday, May 2         2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.  Manchester Room, Tod Hall

Rally for Dr. Anderson

·         April 30th 9-10am in Chestnut

·         Gathering to show our support for her as she leaves YSU

 

Academic Senate

·         Discussion about changes coming to OhioLink as the program becomes increasingly costly for YSU

·         Options include dropping selected sections of the program

Dr. Theall Benefit

·         Wed April 24th 11:30 to 1:30 in McKay auditorium of Beeghly Center

·         Dr. Becker will have more details

 

Smoking

·         Tobacco initiative work team by a vote of 11-1-1 decided to “Pursue the initiative of making YSU a tobacco free campus and begin creating a timeline for implementation”

·         The other proposal was to simply enforce the current smoking policies

Stats from Oohlala Treasure Hunt

·         Stats for YSU Campus Game (Round 2):

·         Dropped: 54. Picked up: 55. Stolen: 305

·         Prize traveled 215 km.

·         Longest 3 prize holders have held the prize for (hrs): 7h42m16s, 7h37m21s, 4h12s

·         Total number of players: 86

·         Number of players who have held the prize: 40

Doodle survey sent out, date still pending

Food depends on room, all other details remain the same

Most likely going to be first week in May

b.    SGA Elections

Discussed how members can still apply for the Fall semester

c.     School Site Visit Evaluations

Feedback on how the visits went, everyone had positive things to say!

II.            New Business

a.     SGA Survey

Looking to construct an exit survey regarding how members can improve the SGA experience and better carry out their representative responsibilities

Looking to distribute this survey at the SGA retreat

Academic Affairs Committee

Minutes of 4.8.2013 Meeting

 

I.  Call to Order:  4:05 pm

 

II. Roll Call

a. Present:  Justen Vrabel, Nicole Pavlichich, Andrew McClusky, Sarah Scheidemantel,

III. Four Year Plan

We had some guests in our meeting from the general body to discuss our Four Year Plan proposal.  Overall, they support the plan and the student trustees will be pitching the idea to other board members.

 

IV. Last Lecture Series

Don’t forget, Last Lecture will be Monday, April 22 at 5:00 pm after committee meetings.  We are working on getting advertisements out.

 

V. Registration Changes

The exercise science department tried to change the registration schedule by removing priority scheduling and requiring everyone to register according to their credit hours.  Though that decision has been temporarily overturned, they are trying to implement this for Spring registration.  We as a committee are watching out for this in the future.

·         Bring Hose hold items in by last week of school!

·         Competition between committees

·         House hold items include: soap, Windex, paper towels, dish soap, paper plates, brown bags, napkins, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.
