Academics: Penguins Place Nine On
Horizon League Teams
Indianapolis, Ind. -- Youngstown State
had nine student-athletes who were
named to the 2004-05 Winter Academic
All-Horizon League team, which was
released by the conference on
Tuesday. Headlining the selections
were three-time academic
all-conference picks Kalyn Leveto
and Emily Schnitkey.
Leveto, a senior diver for the Penguins, was joined on the
team by swimmer Jordan Dunn.
Schnitkey has been selected to a
league academic team on six
occasions throughout her cross
country and track careers. She was
joined on the women's indoor track
and field squad by sophomores Nikki
Hopper and Katy Williams.
Senior women's basketball standout Jen Perugini earned her
first Horizon League All-Academic
award this year. Perugini averaged
14.4 points and 10.7 rebounds her
senior campaign.
The men's indoor track and field had three honorees as senior
Jeremy Riehm, junior Nick Smith and
sophomore Drew Weiser were selected
to their squad.
Overall, seven of the nine league schools had at least nine
student-athletes named to the six
teams that were announced on
Tuesday. |
