Academics: Fifty Seven Penguins Named to League Spring Honor Roll

    Indianapolis, Ind. -- Fifty-seven Youngstown State student-athletes were named to the Horizon League's 2006 Fall Academic Honor Roll, the league recently released. Overall, a total of 504 league student-athletes made the squad as Butler and UW-Milwaukee led the way with 67 honorees. UW-Green Bay was third with 60 student-athletes, while the Penguins were just behind with 57.
    To be named to the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must participate in a league sport, have completed three semesters at the same institution and have a cumulative grade-point average above 3.25 through Dec. 31.
    Leading YSU's efforts were 10 members of the women's track and field/cross country team's and nine baseball players who named to the Honor Roll. The league-champion softball program was right behind with eight.
    The YSU student-athletes who made the Honor Roll in the spring were:
Baseball - Joe Antinone, Brian Boone, Brandon Caipen, Matt Gnacinski, Kevin Libeg, Josh Page, Ryan Sellman, Mike Turjanica, Josh Wells. Women’s Basketball - Lauren Branson, Ashlee Russo. Men’s Golf - Josh Zarlenga. Women’s Golf - Felicia Ciotola, Brittany Jones, Bonnie Sherman, Ashley Yager. Soccer -Sarah Crafton, Maddie Lawther, Britta Snowberger, Jessica Yarter. Softball - Shauna Barry, McKenzie Bedra, Megan Bricker, Lacy Bronson, Rebecca Hibner, Tricia Hilbish, Kelly Murphy, Kelli Sheibley. Swimming and Diving - Becky Bertuzzi, Julia Darling, Cortney Harless, Brittany Senn. Men’s Tennis - Brian Meek, Ryan Trapp. Women’s Tennis - Michelle Fuleky, Gina Perretti, Emily Thayer. Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country - Jarrod Davis, Dave Mealy, John Sheppard, Nick Smith, Drew Weizer. Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country - Bethany Anderson, Amanda Barbone, Emily Cicero, Lindsay Cobey, Jeanna Cunningham, Lindsey Hill, Katy Williams, Darla Wilson, Emily Wollet, Carly Youlton. Volleyball - Crystal Duncan, Abby Ettenhofer, Jessica Fraley, Cari Leslie, Angie Pasquinelli.
