Eagles Rally, Defeat Penguins, 13-8
Morehead, Ky. --
Morehead State erased a 4-1 deficit
and scored six runs in the seventh
inning en route to a 13-8 victory
over the Youngstown State baseball
team on Thursday evening.
The Eagles capitalized on Penguin miscues by scoring five
unearned runs. Roy Gentry went
3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead
Morehead while the YSU offensive
attack was led by Justin Banks, who
went 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
After stranding four runners in the first two innings, the
Penguins scored three runs with two
outs in the third to take a 3-0
lead. After an errand throw,
Banks ripped a two-run double down
the right field line to bring home
Jim Lipinski and Brandon Caipen.
Matt Speas followed with an RBI
single to bring in Banks.
The two teams traded runs to bring the score to 4-1 before
Gentry ripped a three-run triple in
the bottom of the fourth to tie the
score at four.
Morehead grabbed leads of 5-4 and 7-5 before breaking the
game open in the seventh.
Chris Dennis allowed one run in his first outing of the
season, striking out four in three
innings. Clint Ford appeared
in relief and held the Eagles
scoreless over the final 1.1
innings.
The Penguins continue their road trip tomorrow at Tennessee
Tech. First pitch is set for 3
p.m. |
