Swenson Earns
Second League Pitcher of the Week
Award
Indianapolis -- Youngstown State
sophomore Aaron Swenson has been
named the Horizon League Pitcher of
the Week for the second time this
season, the league announced on
Monday.
Swenson earned his sixth league win of the season against
Valpo on Saturday, allowing one run
on five hits in a complete-game
effort.
The Twinsburg, Ohio, native retired 10 straight batters until No. 9 hitter John Giusti singled to start the sixth
inning. He was sacrificed to second
and scored later in the inning on a
two-out single for Valpo's only run.
Swenson is now 6-3 overall and 6-1 in Horizon League games
after picking up his fifth complete
game victory of the year on
Saturday. He leads the Horizon
League in innings pitched (85.2) and
strikeouts (61), ranks second in
wins (6), and is third in ERA (3.68)
and opposing batting average (.255).
Swenson will go for his seventh win on Thursday at Miller
Park when he pitches against
Miwlaukee. |
