Played in 26 games and started twice, including the season opener at Georgia (2/20)... Had two hits in pinch-hitting duties... Doubled and scored a run at Towson (3/7)... Singled at UIC (3/27)... Also made his first collegiate appearance on the mound at Akron.

2008 | Sophomore

Batted .250 with three home runs and 12 RBIs... played in 39 games and started 22 - 16 at DH, four in right field and two in left... hit .265 and had two of his homers in league competition... did not play after May 10 because of a torn MCL that he suffered exercising outside of baseball activities... had started four straight games prior the injury... did most of his damage at the plate coming off the bench... was 8-for-19 (.421) with seven RBIs and seven runs in 17 games as a substitute... hit .438 and had two home runs as a pinch hitter... both of his pinch-hit home runs came in the ninth inning, including one on April 20 against Milwaukee that sent the game into extra innings... hit . 348 over his last 21 games after being held to a .160 clip in his first 18... had two hits on six different occasions... was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs at Toledo (April 8)... hit in six straight contests from April 8 to April 16... was 8-for-16 with six runs scored in the stretch... scored a season-high three runs against Niagara (Nov. 15).

Named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team after leading all league freshmen with a .308 batting average … was one of two league players to earn Freshman All-Ping! honors by pingbaseball.com, which recognized the nation’s top freshman players ... ranked fifth in the league in doubles with 20, which is the fourth-most in YSU history and most ever by a freshman … his 0.38 doubles per game ranked as the 53rd-best in the country ... also blasted four home runs, scored 31 runs and drove in 35 runners … his four home runs tied for the most by a freshman in the league … had a 10-game hitting streak from March 24 to April 8 and hit safely in 13 of the final 15 games … had 15 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games … batted .336 against right-handers ... hit his first career grand slam and had a career-high five RBIs against Butler in the Horizon League Tournament (5/24) … posted two or more hits in three tournament games, including his third three-hit game of the season against Milwaukee (5/23) … overall, he hit .350 with seven RBIs and seven runs scored in the tournament ... had six doubles over a six-game span from May 18 to May 24 … scored more than once eight times, including a career-high three runs at Morehead State (3/17) … recovered from a 2-for-16 slide to start the season to bat .324 in his final 47 games ... homered against Morehead State (3/17), Notre Dame College (5/2), Cleveland State (5/19) and Milwaukee (5/25) ... had doubles in 18 different games, and ripped two doubles against Milwaukee twice (5/11, 5/23).
