Meeting Minutes

Members in Attendance:  Ron Chordas, Jimmy Myers, Kathylynn Feld, Frank Bosso, Terry Fullum and Elaine Jacobs

        The schedule of meetings was distributed to committee members.  Meetings are scheduled every two weeks through December 15, 2005.

        Elaine Jacobs reviewed with the committee, the Operating Principle 3.1 (Gender Issues), Items 1 and 2 of the self study items.  The committee reviewed the Gender Equity Plan 1999-2005 and review letter acknowledging YSU met the recommendation in its original certification.

       Item 2 of the self study was reviewed by the committee which was an overview of the Gender Equity Plan for each year beginning in 99-2000 through 2003-2004 regarding intended and actual results intended was reviewed and explained by Elaine Jacobs.

       The committee concluded the University has implemented the plan as intended by adhering to the action steps to hire and upgrade staff, upgrade coaching positions where possible, increasing the recruiting, travel and equipment budgets, increasing operating costs and pre-season funding. The only adjustment was the one-year delay of $40,000 in funding during the 2001-02 academic year that was utilized to pay fees for new membership into the Horizon League.  This funding was subsequently provided during the 2004-05 academic year.  The board approved 1999-2005 Gender Equity Plan committed $375,000 for women’s programs and upon review, $410,206 was expensed.

       The committee concludes that the plan for improvements is complete.
