Meeting Minutes

Members in Attendance:Jimmy Myers, Terry Fullum, Phil Ginnetti, Ron Chordas, Frank Bosso, Dan O’Connell, Elaine Jacobs

   
    The meeting from November 17 has been re-scheduled for Nov. 22, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. in the President’s Conference Room.

     Self Study Item 5 was discussed and approved by the committee.     

    For Self Study Item 6
    Elaine Jacobs reviewed the Intercollegiate Athletics 2005-2010 Gender Equity Plan Narrative with the committee.  The plans provides for 13 program areas to be reviewed on a continuing basis through formal meetings with the Executive Director of Athletics and each Associate Director of Athletics on a monthly basis.  The athletic administration meets periodically to review department goals.  The supervisor of each sport meets formally with each head coach at the conclusion of their season to review the 13 gender issues.

The following forms were distributed and reviewed:

    - Gender Equity Assessment and the Gender Equity Plan 2005-2010

    - Elaine provided a broad overview of the 13 program areas to be reviewed for gender issues.  These areas included scholarships, accommodation of interest and abilities, equipment and supplies, scheduling of games and practice times, travel and per diem allowance, tutors, coaches, locker rooms and practice facilities, medical and training facilities and services, housing and dining facilities and services, publicity, support services, and recruitment of student-athletes.

    - The areas will be reviewed in detail at the next committee meeting scheduled for Nov. 22, 2005.
